Is Your Child Missing out on Major School Milestones and Events? - Episode 081
In the wake of coronavirus, it’s very likely that your child is missing out on major school milestones. From missing out on senior prom to graduation ceremonies, this is one of those times when life throws us curveballs.
The spread of this virus has led to the closure of schools and many other realities that we weren’t prepared for.
No doubt, this is taking a rough turn on kids and parents around the world. It’s even worse for children as they have to process all of it and deal with the events and activities which mean a lot to them.
In this episode, we look at some of the ways we can help children go through these times. If they’d be missing out on some monumental events in their lives, they need to know how to handle their feelings
Better still, they need alternative ways to bear the pain and face the reality without losing hope or feeling overwhelmed with disappointment.
The ideas we discuss on this episode of School Counselor Gone Rogue are:
Acknowledge the loss of missing out
Dwell on the positives rather than the negatives of corona-virus
Think outside the box for alternative ideas such as creating a video montage or Memory Box to recreate the events
